A person who is fit is capable of living life to its fullest capacity. Physical and mental fitness, both play a vital role in the lives of people. Fitness does not only refer to being physically active, but also refers to a person’s mental state. If a person is physically fit, but mentally troubled, he or she will not be able to function optimally. Staying fit includes exercising well and having a proper balanced diet.

Why is it important to be fit?

People who stay active, physically, are also healthier, able to maintain their optimum weight and are also not prone to health problems. Having a fitness regime, helps an individual to not only have a healthy body but also have an attentive mind. Having a fit body, boosts a persons’ confidence and motivates him or her to work harder. A healthy mind and fit body creates a positive aura. Numerous studies have shown that regular physical activity increases life expectancy and reduces the risk of premature mortality. Exercise has shown to improve mood and mental health. Physical fitness allows you to do things that you may not otherwise be able to do.

Different people adopt different strategies to stay fit. Some may adopt yoga while some may adopt dance. Usually, the younger generation prefers to imbibe a sport (of their choice) as part of staying fit.  Being physically active holds utmost importance, especially, among today’s younger generation who is busy enjoying the luxuries of technology.

Sports and Fitness:

Playing a sport is a fun activity and people believe that taking part in a sport increases their overall fitness and wellbeing. It engages the mind and at the same time energizes and de stresses you. It increases the blood flow of your body and is a great workout for the body as it improves breathing while working your muscles. Sports help you gain the satisfaction of developing new skills and thus keeping you spiritually satisfied and mentally strong. Playing a sport aids balance, flexibility, co-ordination, strengthen bones and also works on your agility. It is a type of meditation, which helps you relieve your mind from all kind of stress, depression and anxiety. It not only improves your stamina and endurance but also helps you in reducing body fat.

Exercising and keeping yourself fit is just another way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It motivates a person to work towards their goals and accomplish them with complete gratification.
